Spring like conditions were difficult at Castle as storm clouds and above freezing temps on Saturday made for in and out showers that the racers and officials had to contend with. A ready supply of snow hardener product and experienced hands to apply them made for a viable surface that after a 1 hour delay, saw both sets of races for the ladies and men successfully completed.

One hundred and two boys and ninety-two girls raced giant slalom at the Bow Valley Quikies’ U12 Caribou Cup on March 12 and 13. Even with numbers like this, fans outnumbered athletes and lined Rob’s Run at Mt. Norquay to cheer them on. Each athlete had 2 GS race starts per day, encouraging the athletes to race to win. Our Sunridge athletes were all attending their first Provincial series race and had a great learning experience on how those races run.
